Information for pilots wishing to fly in to Windsock Village

While the aviation facilities at Windsock Village are generally only available to airpark residents and invited guests, we do welcome pilots that may want to visit occasionally.  Please refer to the following guidelines to determine whether prior permission is required (these guidelines only apply to those aviators that are not residents or guests of a resident):

    • Visiting pilots should click here to complete and submit our short application
    • Flying in for a publicly advertised event like a fly-in or pancake breakfast is allowed without specific prior permission.
    • Flying in to visit an airpark property that is for sale is generally allowed without prior permission.
    • If you would like to just fly in to see what airpark living is like, please contact us using one of the methods below and we’ll make sure someone is available to show you around. We’re happy to do it!
    • Flight school, Part 135  and other charter operations require prior permission and may not be approved unless the client is a resident.  We have insurance limitations that discourage commercial operations.
    • Leaving an aircraft unattended for any length of time would require prior permission.
    • Multiple operations (i.e. multiple landings or touch & go’s)  are not permitted at any time.
    • Landing aircraft must  be appropriate for our turf runway and taxiways:
      1. Jets, large turbo-props and aircraft weighing over 12,500 lbs are not allowed.
      2. While the runway is 4000′ feet in length, the approaches are not clear and contain very tall pine trees.  Pilots should know that the usable part of the runway will be less than the total length.
      3. Generally our runway and taxiways are in very good condition but  there may be times when it is not advisable for heavier aircraft or those with with smaller tires to utilize the facility. These conditions are most common in the spring and early winter but could occur at any time.  Use the contact information below if there is any question.
    • Pilots should be alert to the fact that the runway must not be used when maintenance (i.e. mowing or plowing) is in progress unless radio communications is established with the maintenance personnel and satisfactory arrangements have been worked out.
If you have any questions about landing at Windsock, feel free to call us at (207) 370-5168 or email us at aviation@windsockvillageairpark.com.
