Guidelines for Everyone

If you have questions that are not answered below, please contact the WVAC Board at
aviation@windsockvillageairpark.com or (207) 370-5168.

The runway and taxiways are for aircraft use, no motorized vehicles are allowed. Any person walking along the runway or taxiways are advised to stay along the edge and pay attention for possible aircraft activity which can occur at any time, day or night.

PEOPLE and PETS
  • Be extremely alert at all times when walking on the runway or taxiways. Remember that aircraft can be quieter than you think and you may not hear an aircraft landing behind you.
  • Look in all directions before crossing the runway or taxiways and minimize time spent in the areas used by aircraft.
  • Aircraft may be using the runway and taxiways at any time, including night and during poor weather. There is no time when the runway or taxiways can be used for recreational purposes.
  • WIndsock rules and Ossipee regulations require dogs be on a leash or very well behaved.  Unleashed dogs on the runway or taxiway can be extremely dangerous to aircraft, not to mention unhealthy for the dog.  Remember that a pet’s owner is responsible for any damage to an aircraft, runway or taxiway caused by a pet.
  • Watch for aircraft entering the runway or taxiway from residences.
  • Treat all propellers (spinning or not) with respect. Never be too near or touch a propeller. Moving a propeller even the smallest amount could cause it to spin enough to cause serious injury.
  • Please be aware of and abide by WIndsock’s Drone/UAV Guidelines.
VEHICLES
  • No motorized vehicles other than aircraft are allowed on the runway or taxiways
    • Exceptions may be made with permission from a member of the WVAC Board
    • Snowmobiles are allowed to use the edges of the runway and taxiway to transit from a residence to the trail system and back when conditions are appropriate and at conservative speeds. A snowmobile operator’s permission to use the runway and taxiway will be rescinded if abuse is noted.
  • Soaring Heights roadways are joint use with aircraft having right of way.
    • Watch carefully for aircraft when driving in Soaring Heights and if one is encountered, the best course of action is to back up into the nearest driveway or cross road and wait for the aircraft to pass.  Aircraft cannot go in reverse and the roads are not wide enough to allow side-by-side passage.
    • Because Soaring Heights roads are used for taxiing aircraft, winter sanding is limited to a few intersections and no salt is used.
  • Sections of Windsock Village roadways that cross a taxiway receive less winter treatment than the rest of the road system.  Be aware that parts of the road may have less sand or be plowed differently.
